Road Trip Part 3 aka we have departed from gumball

6 May

After a wonderful continental breakfast involving biscuits (thanks dad!) we set out for Memphis. We were originally going to go all the way to Nashville, but decided we didn’t want to drive that far so Nashville will be left for tomorrow.

Arkansas is full of bad billboards and drivers. The tailgating and lack of blinkers was like being in LA again. Notable billboards include:

-one for a wine tasting place that said “Like California, but not as fruity”
-”Use the rod on children and save their lives”

Moving on. Made it to Memphis around 5 and checked in to a swanky hotel downtown. We walked a few blocks to Beale Street for some BBQ. All photos are from Mike. You should click on his name to see a secret photo not posted here.

Road Trip Part 2 aka my quest for Tony Hawk is unhealthy

6 May

Sorry for the late post Cindy, but I was sleepy last night.

Yesterday we travelled from Albuquerque through Texas to Oklahoma. After eating at Sonic for the first time ever (!) we met a gumballer at the gas station who told us that we had seen him pulled over on the side of the road the day before. His driver had just gotten out of jail that morning and was booking it to Dallas, Texas.

During this ride my quest to find Tony Hawk reached a whole new level. Through Twitter we discovered 20 minutes too late that we had been in Amarillo at the same time as him. Hawk evaded us yet again. We saw this car at the gas station. It had Dubai plates.

In Texas we saw 10 cops in 53 miles. We also drove through some really intense fog.

Here are some more assorted pics from yesterday.
